Dear All

I cannot vouch for the following being grammatically correct but at this time of night on a Friday, I’m beyond caring.

A Carp of Safety Managers – for those who see them as nit pickers …. or fish.

A Deity of Safety Managers – for those who see them as Messiah like.

A Nest of Safety Managers – for those following the bird theme.

A Stool of Safety Managers – for those who see them as "[expletive deleted]"

A Gleam of Safety Managers – for those who see them bringing light into dark: or optimism over despair.

An Oomph of Safety Managers – for those who see them as energetic motivators.

A Mort of Safety Managers – for those who don’t see any signs of life in them at all.

An Augury of Safety Managers – for those who see them as a collective oracle.

An Ennui of Safety Managers – for those who see them as boring.

A Suttee of Safety Managers – for those who have just lost the will to live.

My apologies for those of you possessing a first class degree in English Language – I don’t!

Have a nice weekend.

Cheers.

Nigel

I was thinking of a MOSH. According to the dictionary a MOSH is a type of dance or thrash...seems quite apt to me.

An olm - a blind, colourless salamander that lives in deep caves where it is permanently dark. According to the Natural History Museum:

'All in all, it's a strange, sad looking creature, with small skinny limbs and no manners'

Just referring to some of the H&S managers that I have met(the minority but a sizeable minority).....:p

Thank you to all - that was fun!

my particular favourite is the olm and NigelB various suggestions

my team here suggested a 'Nightmare' of Safety managers - are they trying to tell me something?

unfortunately no leather patched jacket but you could end up in Wikipedia!

If any collective noun were to enter common parlance within the exciting world of OS&H, it might become a suitable subject for a question on BBC TV's quiz show 'QI'.

In view of the ongoing thread about abbreviations used in forum postings I'd better add that QI is short for "Quite Interesting". Don't tell anyone that I didn't know this until recently, or that I still don't understand the scoring systems for QI, Mock the Week or Have I Got News For You. Mind you, I don't think anyone else understands them either! :-)

The public often call a group of Safet Managers "Elf'n'safe tea", as in:

"we woz visited by 'Elf n safe tea' last week"

or

"You can't do that! "Elf'n'Safe Tea" would never allow it.

It is a common term for a mysterious group of fun stopping safety manager agents working for the top dark forces of government. Like the CIA or MI6 but thoroughly annoying and uncool. Invented by tabloids and perpetuated by Dave.

A squirrel of safety managers (mostly greys, few reds left)

A rash of occupational hygienists.

A posture of ergonomists

A sprinkling of fire risk assessors

A squelch of audiometrists

A bevy of LPG bullet inspectors

The answer is quiet clear. It is a "Confusion of Safety Managers"
