Electrical testing (4th Edition code of practice)

I do not have a copy of the 4th Edition of the Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment but understand that it recommends that a 'next test/inspection due' date is not put on inspection labels. I know the labels are strictly speaking not a legal requirement, however if stickers are used a 'next due' date would in my view serve as a good reminder to those in charge of monitoring the equipment. To those in the know is my understanding above correct and are we now expected to have to make a specific request for this information? I can foresee a lot of confusion ahead!

chas, if you are buying the service, you can usually specify how you want it delivered. If the existing supplier will not or cannot deliver what you expect, there are plenty who would relish the opportunity for new business.

The best thing to do is have the users look at the gear they are using. But a label is handy as it jogs the old brain. At the end of the day it's down to the management to keep tabs on things. It is quite pointless to rely on dates as it is the current safety of the items that is the vital factor. If in doubt, talk to the supervior or H&S management.
