Just a quick one.
An organisation has bump hats but rarely uses them (they are stored on vehicles for the majority of the time). The bump hats are routinely visually inspected.
My question is if they were visually in good condition when would you consider replacing them for new?
Sorry for being a bit vague.
Regards,
Phil.

For bump caps, the fabric covering might eventually perish, but the protective insert is essentially indestructible. I certainly wouldn't think about applying the 3-year cycle some apply to plastic hard hats.

5 Years from issue, i am sure there is some dates marked on the insert.

I wouldn't unless they showed signs of damage or were becoming brittle (just bend them a bit). The date inside is the date the hat was moulded. You will find the manufacturers won't have put an expiry date on.
