My company use an older model CNC machine which has been recently fitted with interlocks, this has now presented a problem. The speed has been limited to 50rpm How can I manually override the machine to cut steadybands. The steadyband has to be cut manually at 150/200 rpm the speed is required to ensure a perfect cut, running at 50 rpm results in an unusual cut. The CNC operator needs to have the doors open. Question is where does the safe limit of 50 rpm come from.

Presumably this is an attempt to comply with the requirement for operation under "reduced risk conditions" in EHSR 1.2.5 of the Machinery Directive, but I can't find anything with a specific mention of 50 rpm. Have you asked the person who fitted the interlocks?
