Can you help me?

I have to produce RAMS for our site engineers on a regular basis and was wondering what I could do for call outs. Is there a way of producing a generic set of RAMS that my engineers could follow. The problem is the job will always be slightly different and at different locations. I have thought about getting the engineers to carry one out on arrival but we are struggling to get them to do it.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks

Hope this helps - it sounds a bit obvious, but I suppose that's only if you've been there!

We had a similar situation a while back - we now brief the guys on the generic rams and give them copies, but also they complete an "on-the-spot" assessment which is shorter and covers the things that (for us) are likely to change: weather conditions, site layout, etc.

The main thing is the "on-the-spot" ones are to the point, cover only the "variables", so they're not doing an assessment from scratch. We're adapting the original now they're comfortable with the concept to make it less of a tick-box.

Check on them doing it is part of the audit system.

Thanks for the reply. I had thought of getting the engineers to carryout the assessment when they arrived on site but i'm having issues with this being done. I want to avoid having to produce a set of Rams for every job as this could be anytime of the day or week but also need to bear in mind that every job is different. Some are private custommers and some are commercial. How have you managed to get your engineers to fill out your forms? Can i be cheeky and ask if you could sent me your generic form to look at?

Many thanks in advance.

Dave

PM me with your email and I will send you some generic RAMS for service engineers and also a task specific risk assessment template that I have in use in various organisations at the moment, field engineers like it, think its a doddle, but it get them absolutely focused and takes 10 minutes tops.
