Good Afternoon,
I have taken on a new position which I will look after a small team across the UK.
The HR department have asked if I have a preferred job title.
Which job title would be more marketable in the future:
UK Head of HS&E
Or Group Head of HS&E
It will not affect my role but would like to use the opportunity to better my CV
Thank you

Congrats on the new position!
Why not Group HS&E Manager. The Manager bit reflects you are managing a team and not just a lone body.

I'll be honest and say that a job title means absolutely nothing and neither one will have any greater impact than the other in bettering your CV.
I've been an OHS manager for 3.5 years and my job title doesn’t mention HS or E, I've just got a new role with a job title that is even more far removed from "OSH" but my experience is very much in this field.
It's all about your role, responsibility and achievements at the end of the day. So I guess the answer is take which one you prefer the sound of!

Love it or loathe it, but the latest vogue seems to have "Wellbeing" in the title...

Which sector is it in,if it is heavily regulated you could get the word compliance in there as well. Why not look at similar level posts out there and that may give you a better idea !

Thanks for the replies again,
Few options there.
I feel the well being title sounds good but is not specific enough in highlighting HS&E and may be overlooked by recruiters who aren't familiar with our industry

9yally, You come accross overly concerned about 'future proofing' rather than embracing your new position. Is it a stop gap or are you just really switched on?

Love it Simon,it just about sums up my role but you missed "compliance" out :-)
"Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, Security, Liaison, Support, Training and Psychological Management Executive Lead."
In today's environment I think we all need to look at future options should they either become available or necessary ,I think "Group Health and Safety Manager" is simple and understandable.do you report to a Director of Safety 9yally ?

Just like many of the previous posts explain; the job title does not really matter in the modern HSE world.
What I would however offer is one word of advice regarding titles and it relates to my previous position as the HSE manager of a large service provider in UK. We were tendering for a five year framework contract with one of the Major Regional Water companies and I was interviewed by one of their environmental leads and performed pretty poorly relating to water quality etc etc. When I responded in my somewhat poor defence that enviro management was not my forte I was rebuffed with a "well you have Environment in your title" to which I did not have a leg to stand on.
Suffice to say I went out and armed myself with an enviro diploma to prevent a similar embarrassment in the future.
