I've been speaking to a company that we work with and after an HSE visit they have received a Notification of Contravention letter which details SIX contraventions. The letter states that they will be sent an invoice for the costs incurred. I have two questions, does anyone know how long it will take the HSE to invoice the company and will they be charged per contravention? This is the first case of FFI I've seen.
Thanks
Martin

I understand FFI to be on the basis of cost recovery, not on the basis of number of contraventions.

Apparently the HSE will be sending out invoices en masse every two months and you will have 30 days from that date to pay. Not sure what the invoice dates are but I suspect first week in Jan was last one so first week in March I would suspect the next lot of invoices will go out.
The amount will be based on the time the HSE has taken to deal with this visit and is paid at £124 an hour if I remember correctly. But the time is not just time spent on site but also travel and admin before/after the visit.

Everybody needs to sharpen up and fast when the HSE calls otherwise we will all be paying unnecessarily

Last sentence is not quite correct:
26 HSE will not recover costs for the same work twice. This means that functions such as training of inspectors, travelling to and from visits, management, and work by administrative staff will not have the hourly rate applied to them. The costs of these activities have already been built into the hourly rate calculation as described in Appendix 2.
