Sorry to hear your bad news Terry.

I can see you are in South Wales and I think you had previously said what industry Sector you are in and or would like to be in, but it may be worth reminding us.

We could end up competing, but there may be some I do not want (or cannot) go for that I will let you know about and hopefully vice versa.

Oh and before someone in the Job centre tells you how wonderful Universal Job match is, well it is not. Don't register at first, use it a bit anonymously and I would search Google (the void). Then make up your own mind. Some job centres say it is mandatory, it is not.

Bad day at the office Terry, very sorry to hear your news, all too common these days.

I'm in Ireland so not much help on the job front but a wee bit of advice - make sure your CV is top class - more and more employers/agencies are using CV's to filter candidates before going to interview stage. If you don't get past the post......

I recruited a safety specialist last year and we had 38 CV's, 2 hours reading them filtered it down to 4 candidates for interview.

PS - I have a professionally prepared CV format that I shared on the forum a while back, happy to send you a copy if you want (PM me if yes).

Good luck

Sorry to hear your news. Can I suggest you contact your local Careers Wales Office and ask about ReAct Funding. If you have been made redundant in the last 6 months or are under notice of redundancy you can apply for up to £1500 funding for vocational training. Careers Wales were great assisting with the application and suggestions. The job centre staff may also be able to give you information.

It's not very well publicised and I found it a great help on 2 occasions I suffered redundancy. 1st time I used to part fund the NEBOSH Diploma and the 2nd for ISO9001 Lead Auditor course.

The only down side when I did the Diploma it was block release and my benefits were stopped for some of the weeks I attended as I was not available for work even though they were providing funding to improve my employment prospects. But it was still worthwhile.

Here is the link for more information.

Good luck

Sonia
