Hi,
I've been away from the industry (abroad) for a couple of years. Looking to get back in now, probably through contracting myself out on large construction projects (via my own ltd company). Can anyone tell me what the current average day rate is for a CMIOSH Safety Advisor on large major construction projects. Particularly interested in the rates in the North West and North East of England.

Many thanks in advance

Alf

I am Grad IOSH 5 years HSE Advisor experience 4 in the Nuclear sector 6 month offshore which was £450 a day now on £570 a 8hour day plus 45p per mile 380 round trip, onshore Oil & Gas new build for a medium sized operator ltd company. However I would not think this is a true reflection of a standard day rate this would be at the top end and I am away from home for 4 nights a week.

Offshore rates are one thing, but I think firm ground is another. 5 years ago I was on £200 per day on a major engineering project. More recently I've been on £250 per day + expenses. Some contractors are reluctant to pay even that.
