Could anyone provide details on the type of ladders that are used on offshore platforms. I have had various reports; no wooden ladders to be used, aluminium ladders not used due to chance of sparks. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bowie I'm afraid there's not out and out answer, as you will find that individual operatore or rig owners will have their own rules regarding this, specific to risks as perceived on that platform or rig. For best advice on what's current on UKCS installations, check out, OGUK, OGP and also review the discussions on Step Change for Safety or even contact the HSE Advisors at the respective companies premises.
