Hello Guys,

Has anyone ever done a skype interview? I have one coming up in a couple of weeks and its also my first experience. Is there any unique tips for conducting myself? Any other relevant information would also be useful. Thanks

Regards,

Stephen

Skype is a funny system to get used to - the time lag effect can be disconcerting.

If you are unused to Skype, I would suggest you get someone to hold some 'skype conversations' with you, so you can get used to it.

Good Luck

Hi Stephen ,

I done one back in 2011 and was successful, a couple of points to consider.

Prepare as you would for a face to face/ PREPARE!!
Wear a shirt and Tie as you would for a interview- I just had my boxers on below ( Which I look back and laugh now)
I set the computer up in the kitchen against a wall with no distractions i.e pictures etc on the table /set the correct height to ensure that the view the interview could see was just right.
Increased the wattage of the light in the room, as the view of myself was quite dull, with a higher wattage the view was fresher.
I practiced some responses to standard questions sitting in the chair, Skype can allow you to record as well which I done- and repeated this quite a few times until I felt comfortable. I started this a few days before , I also tested the internet connection and Skype d a friend, make sure if your calling them you have the right address, although I was called for mine

Also I can say when the Interview came along it was a very good experience because I felt comfortable that I had prepared all aspects.

And as for conducting yourself just be yourself

Good Luck any questions please feel free drop me a mail

Good Luck

Glenn
