I’m in the process of doing a safety assessment at an industrial warehouse where the main risk appears to be falling from height. The warehouse is on two levels: pallets of product are stored on the higher level and they are loaded and unloaded on and off vehicles on the lower level. The difference in height between the two levels is approximately 1.1m and there is currently no edge protection preventing falls to the lower level in place. When loading and unloading takes place, pallets are positioned along the edge of the upper level after unloading prior to being moved to their storage location in the warehouse or prior to being loaded into a vehicle by a forklift working on the lower level. What I think is needed here is some easily and safely removable edge protection that can be removed when pallets are being transferred between the high and low levels in the warehouse but can be easily replaced to provide adequate fall protection when the transfer of pallets between levels is not taking place. Does anyone have any recommendations re suitable movable fall protection barriers that would work for this application? Thanks in anticipation!

In the past I have seen a barrier that hinges and swings over the pallet, thus is always a barrier protecting a fall from height, but allows pallets to be moved from either side. Hard to describe in words, does that make sense?

The Ajax pallet gate safety barriers are just the king of thing I had in mind... Thanks very much for this information! Cheers, Paul

John I presume you are talking about a loading bay Why not paint a line along the higher level, 2 metres from the edge and write "Do Not Cross This Line" on the floor along it's length - back this up with a tool box talk.
