Hi all, Would like to get a lone worker risk assessment set up for our receptionists who work for a portion of the day alone in the building. Does any one have a steer on what could be included in this, obviously there is the threat of violence from members of the public/unauthorised people on site, the need to ensure that they are trained in what to do in the event of a fire. What else can you recommend please, thanks.

Is it clear what the purpose is of having a receptionist in an empty building.?

russ, redken is correct in asking you to be sure that there no alternative to 'lone working'. That's the first satge in your risk assessment. Then I suggest you look at the HSE guidance, webpage here http://www.hse.gov.uk/contact/faqs/workalone.htm and there's a link to the pdf leaflet indg73 From that guidance you should be able to work out what risks there are, and how and what can be put in place to ensure the person's safety whatever happens e.g. illness, fire, tresspassers, visitors, violence, accident, are there any processes going on in the unattended building which may create hazards etc. JohnW
