Hi,
I am on the scrounge again - is there anyone working in the automotive sector that is willing to share their best practice with me please?
A site visit would be ideal so that I can see what best practice looks like - especially if the site is in a far away exotic place :-)
Thanks in anticipation
Stuart

So when we get a new group for Automotive it's just you then Stuie. Just think of the weight you will put on at the meetings as you try and eat all the sandwiches yourself :o).

I don't see why any new group should be just automotive, surly general manufacturing would be a better group.

Sadly the contacts I used to have in an automotive organisation would not still be there (may not still be alive). They made vehicle braking systems, so automotive, but not what you said you do.

Perhaps a request not just automotive, but for a specific part of the process you are interested in reviewing, may gain you more responses.

Chris

Hi Stuie,
I am in the automotive industry (training side for lots of industry specific customers), if you could let me know more of what you require I can point you in the right direction.

I am looking for someone who carries out air sampling to do a talk for me for an hour with some practical testing for my students. (Tuesday 30th April - just an hour or so). Our COSHH LEV testing company have let me down. Do you know of anyone who can help me in the Shrewsbury (Shropshire) area?

I might be wrong, but I don't think that many in the industry are currently members of IOSH but things are changing ......

Hi Mandy,
I have PM'd you.

Chris,
I am not out for starting an 'automotive' group - manufacturing will be fine by me :-)
I am however looking for someone/somewhere to look at what is best practice - automotive or not - just to look at what 'best practice' looks like and maybe 'borrow' a few ideas.

Thanks
Stuart

Hi,

I work in the Automotive industry I look after 9 HGV Workshops in the South East. For a leading HGV Vehicle Manufacture.

Could that be any help to you ??

Let me know if so, always happy to help out a fellow Health and Safety comrade.

Obviously if you work for one of my companies competitors then unfortunately I wont be able to help but I imagine the chances of that are fairly slim.

Regards

Crescent

Hi Stuie,
Got your message, just let me know - no problem.
I am also working on 'Automotive Industry' related measures to combat shortfalls regards training, health & safety and a place to bring it all together for our industry. The automotive industry is all very closely related within manufacturing, parts suppliers, independent garages and large chains all with the same goals. Although there are many competitors, health and safety is something we can share widely as we are all a link in the same chain.
All the best.
Mandy

Contact the likes of Vauxhall Motors in Ellesmere Port. I did this some years ago when doing my degree and asked if I could visit the plant to look at how they manage environmental issues. Their policy was to offer a full site tour to those who ask.

It was an excellent half day being taken around the whole plant by one of their supervisors. Well, if you don't ask you don't get.
