Hello all. I'm trying to get further information on if our lorry driver is required to have CPC training. He has had his licence before 1996 and the truck is 7.5 ton. I have training companies telling me one thing, the .gov site is a joke and I have been told that he does not need it. Can anyone help?? Cheers

Jock..seems strange calling a countryman that but hey... Yes he needs CPC it came in around Sept 2009 which meant from that date you had a five year period (Sept 2014) where you didn't need a CPC but had to get it sorted for after Sept 2014. Hope that helps.

If the driver is operating commercially, delivering goods, then 35hours of training needs to be completed by September 2014 for LGV drivers (Class C1, C1+E, C and C+E). This is based on the fact provided that he held the licence prior to September 2009 and in such cases has a D-CPC albeit not registered.
