Hi all, this is my first post so be nice. Could anyone give advice or point to a relevant document that gives advice on accident investigation carried out within a train station environment? The basic scenario Im looking at involves an elderly passenger suffering a fall at a station while being assisted by a member of station staff who was sole working on the platform but whose primary duty was train dispatch. What sort of evidence should I be looking at to establish the full fact of the incident? Cheers guys!

Hi, welcome to the forums :) HSG 245 gives general advice http://books.hse.gov.uk/...alogueCode=9780717628278 CCTV, witness statements, photographs of the area, medical reports of injuries if applicable and the injured party agrees to release them to you, plan of the area, sketch of who / what where etc. Your company may have an investigation guide, good luck.

In the first instance you should be aware of the investigation procedure of Train Operating Company (TOC) for that station, assuming you don't work for them that is. Apart from the good advice by SNS you need to understand what caused the person to fall ie platform conditions and whether an injury was sustained. Evidence taken at the time is probably crucial in determining the cause.

Paul, you are probably already aware of this but just in case you aren't, you might find it useful to read through some of the reports here: http://www.raib.gov.uk/p...nvestigation_reports.cfm
