If I were you:
1. Go get Diploma'd. L6 in health and safety, then: 2. Get the environmental Dip, then: 3. Consider a fire qualification, then: 4. Get CMIOSH'd
1+2+3+4= Ding-Dang-Do.
Then get some WD40 to use on your wheel barrow to stop it squeeking when you go get your wages.
Crack on.

a) Join IOSH b) Level 5 NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety or NEBOSH Diploma (start your CPD on-line IOSH) c) This gets you Grad- IOSH (with portfolio if NEBOSH route) d) Apply for your open assessment for IOSH, then complete it e) Apply for peer to peer interview for chartered membership of IOSH f) Get your CMIOSH status
Whilst doing all this, which could take you a couple of years or more, consider other areas depending on the sector you wish to enter. If its letters behind your name your after, which isn't what its all about, but helpful for job applications: join IIRSM and start their online CPD (MIIRSM-RSP). If its an environmental qualification your after join IEMA and take their entrance exam (AIEMA) You could also consider a qualification in Facilities management.(BIFM)
(Oh by the way this all costs money ahhhhh)
Plan your career, set targets and go for it.
Good luck

Agree with Steve W
IEMA instead of NEBOSH for the environmental element....Carried out training as an auditor with LRQA as well and found that highly profitable, might be another avenue to follow.
