TBH I have better things to take up my time than worry about reverse parking at work. Little wonder people are losing respect for health and safety when we make such impositions.
Life threatening issues should always take priority over trivia. Sort your acids before loosing sleep over paper cuts. That is fact, but what is wrong with looking for ways to improve if you have good controls in place overall. Any good magement system should always look for anyway to improve, no matter how simple or trivia it may seem. Nout wrong with that. crack on.

I am going to disagree and suggest that we should leave the trivial well alone. By demanding that trivial risks be brought within the control of our safety management system we might well alienate our staff and, as Ray states, lose their respect. The difficulty with reverse parking is that we appear to be unable to decide if the risk we are trying to address is significant or trivial. In the absence of hard evidence, the worry is that staff will view it as a trivial risk worthy of Gerald Wright at his team: 'Our job is to identify risk, even where no such risk exists' Hold back!

Hard evidence for what? If an accident does occur then not reverse parking is not going to be the single cause. As with any incident there will be a multiple causal tree. Small adjustments like reverse parking could actually break the chain. If that happens then there is no accident. So where is your evidence that an accident never occurred? There is none because there was no accident. So there is no evidence because it never happened. Want the support of the staff? Then approach the issue the right way by winning the hearts and minds first. No one cares what you know until they know you care. As for looking for a risk where no risk exists. It’s a good job John Snow and Rev. Henry Whitehead did not have that attitude, when swimming against popular opinion of the time. Although granted reverse parking in Broad Street would not have helped at all. And the subject was a bit more of an issue, not just water under the bridge. Crack on
