Dear All,
If I wanted to carryout some type of trainging for example, Fire Marshall, Or Manual Handling, what courses would i need tp do to be deemed competent. At the moment I use a external consultancy to do this type of work.

Manual Handling Instructor / Assessor course is 5 days (or was when I did it), I attended a RoSPA run one. Definitely cost saving to be had if you have the resource inhouse, providing you have the time to run the courses.
Not sure about the Fire Marshal requirements.

First of all I advise that you obtain some sort of trainer / educator qualification and then look at specific areas
Over the years it has been assumed that if you are the H&S bod you can automatically train other people - that is not the case in my view and I would not assume that just because a person has a NEBOSH dip etc. that they can automatically train educate etc. The same wrong assumption applies to many many areas

Doesn't this question depend on what and who you are teaching?
When I worked in a sweetshop - did I really need a diploma and a PTTLLS qualification to teach the other employees some basic manual handling and about being a fire marshal? (about 4 people in total in a small square shop with two exits)
The training would have cost a weeks takings, let alone profit!!!
On the other hand for a more standard level, I agree with the posters above
It all depends :)
I would add my PTTLLS course (I think I was very lucky) was excellent and taught me a lot!
