Hi,
Has anyone any experience of using the easi dec system and what were your thoughts on this ?
What did you use the system for ?
Many Thanks

I've always had concerns about potentially significant manual handling risks.
When the system came on the market I asked for information as required by HSWA S6 but did not get a response. Whether they give out more information now, I don't know.

Would recommend to stay well away from this system having lots of experience with this system and the result being a severely injured tradesmen. I found that the system is very reliant on human behavior and if the system is minutely miss built then big problems can occur. Also, I might be wrong because things may have changed since I have used them but there is not an 'official' training course. So basically, read the instructions and away you go!

Thanks for the replies.
Easi Dec do a training course themselves from my recent enquires.
However I am not to sure on the system and it's stability.
We would be using the towers to fit solar PV.
I am fully aware towers are not recommended for the installation so a bit dubious about this still
Any more comments much appreciated

Have completed the course for installing testing etc. Photovoltaic panels, there is no way I would even consider the use of a tower and would only work from and independent tied scaff. If your working from a tower for this type of job your going to get what you are asking for. But I'm an awkward old git

We use easy dec at our company and we find it very useful and we have had no incidents with it so far.
I would suggest however that when using easy dec you take a proactive approach to ensure that you have a procedure in place to check its correctly put up by competent persons and that you have good, regular supervision in place to make sure it is being used safely and for the right job. e.g. don't use it to actually gain access to roofs.

Used the Easi Deck system where we have needed to paint a window or soffit but has a conservatory or similar in the way. Been very successful and removes the need to have scaffold erected for a very short duration job. Agree that you will need to have a robust procedure in place for use, erection and inspection and that there is adequate supervision as operatives do like to take short cuts.

Have to agree with zimmy and Paul
Having used easidec for external decs up to soffit height I think that is about the limit.
We had an extension to work on dorma windows on bungalow/chalet type housing that was very useful, but to give you a stable platform for panel installation a nice independent tied scaffold along with suitable edge protection by far the safest way

I am inclined to agree with the majority about Easi-Dec, in principle a good idea but hard to work with. I have a few instances where we have had issues with the system. if not assembled correctly the rest of the day is a waste trying to work out the problem, Easi-Dec aren't to helpful when questioned either.

I was under the impression that easi dec should not be used for installing PV panels as it does not provide gable end edge protection.
For short duration maintenance tasks it seems good and is, in fact, featured in best practice photos on several pieces of hse guidance for such works.

Possible scenario:
Two guys are trained to use the system and then are 'let loose' to use the system. They need the system to carry out work in a back garden where they are painting a soffits where a shed is in the way. Do you think the operatives will use another system? Or, build overhanging the shed?
