Quick question about GHS packaging symbols and extent of use. GHS and CLP is gradually taking hold, but it will be 2015 when the new labeling will be mandatory on packaging for all supplies. I have been trying to find out whether we, as storers of such materials in our laboratories, should be changing all the signage on storage locations, etc. e.g. Gas cylinder cupboards, chemical storage cabinets, etc so that they are aligned to the GHS symbols. There could be an argument for doing this on the grounds of consistency with the labeling used for supply, but I am not sure if it mandatory under CLP (checking the CLP regulation did not show anything obvious, but there was plenty of text, so I might have missed the crucial bit!). I took a look at the ARCO signage online store and all I can see on there are the current ("old") safety signs for flammables, compressed gases, toxic agents, etc. Thanks in advance.

But these are the yellow triangles, not the previously orange and now red squares?

We display a sign that shows both the old CHIP & GHS symbols to help raise awareness of the change over (along with a pocket guide with the same details on). It's helping to reinforce the message and also to ensure that the symbol is clearly identifiable on any incoming haz subs (no matter which version is on display). Let me know if you'd like me to PM a link to a supplier's catalogue.
