Hello
I am trying to identify the British Standard (BS) that refers to the testing of a pad eye intended to hang a fall arrest system from.
There must be a welding requirement and then testing eg to 15Kn.
We have an argument here which I need to resolve but cannot put my finger on the required document. I am hampered by the need to pay to access the BS website and I don't have access.
Can anyone help?

I think you're after BS:EN 795

EN 795 - Anchor Devices & Testing for single user devices that can be removed from the structure i.e. eye bolts or a strop with a karibina over a beam
TS16415 - Anchor devices for more than one user
BS 7883:2005+A1 - British advice for the implementation of EN 795

Folks Thanks
I had my Q Dept get the standard and it seems to relate to mobile anchor points. We are looking at a pad eye welded to a piece of equipment, eg offshore plough or trencher, to attach a landyard. This means a technician can work at height.
I have had arguements that there is no standard that should be applied to a fixed anchor point. And as its welded will not require testing. This seems wrong.
Is there a standard for a fixed anchor point?

BS:EN 795 is the relevant British Standard but LOLER still applies.
The Anchor point is a lifting accessory and will require regular testing (i believe its a 15kN test for a period of time at least every 6 months).

On review BS EN 795 only applies to anchors designed to be moveable. Fixed systems are specifically excluded by the standard so its back to the drawing board!
