Hi, What are your views about having to work standing? Found some information at http://www.hazards.org/standing/
Do you know anything about the HSE view on this or your view?

hr, with the best will in the world, without a little more information, any replies that you are going to get are gong to be highly speculative. Of course many jobs can only reasonably and sensibly be carried out when 'standing'.
If you could tell us WHAT KIND of work, that would help inform a sensible answer.

Canopener is quite correct in stating that more information is needed.
In addition to details of the tasks, it's also important to specify the age groups, gender, equipment, furniture and handtools in order to conduct a suitable and sufficient ergonomic risk assessment.

Thanks Barnaby for the links.
Can - This is an operation where females (20-30yrs) carry out packing of 500ml water bottles using a sealing machine. They use both hands and have to keep one foot on the pedal to start/stop the conveyor. They are working,
7.30 to 10.00
10.00 to 10.15 break
10.15 to 12.00
12.00 to 12.30 break
12.30 to 15.00
15.00 to 15.15 break
15.15 to 17.15
Hope this helps..

General rule is - if the work can be done sitting, then you should provide seating.
There are all sorts of seats available, also stools which you lean back on rather than sitting, which takes some of the weight off. Have used these in the past, people found them good.
