Think they blamed a rogue tyre in Salthouse Dock which got caught round the propeller? Though i have no idea what they blamed the first sinking on.

When you consider it happened in Liverpool I would have expected a few hundred swimming ashore, then walking right on across the road to the solicitors offices. (before I get slaughtered Liverpool is my home town and we can take a joke) :-))

With the speed the vessel sank it is a miracle that no one was hurt or killed. It also highlights the fact that had passengers been trapped inside we have no underwater search and rescue capability on this island that we live in, provided by the emergency services. Phil

That reminds me of an accident with two buses at low speed (well one was low and other was stationary) in Queens Sq Bus Station (i still call it the Gyratory...) and someone got done for fraud by claiming they were on the bus at the time. Lucky for her that the bus had CCTV and after the crash she was seen boarding...think she got jailed.

When I was a young fireman, many many years ago, I attended a road traffic accident where a double decker Atlantean bus hit a metal lamp standard, in Liverpool. The driver was quite badly injured but none of the six passengers were injured, we called for an ambulance to attend. When the ambulance arrived there were suddenly a lot more than six people claiming they had been on the bus and when we looked round we saw they were getting on the bus through the centre doors and exiting through the front door and then straight onto the ambulance, it was chocker block full.
