Hi All,
Ill try and give as much details as i can.
Maintenance worker is travelling from one job to get materials.
Whilst traveling he is involved in an alleged (I say alleged as van tracker shows he did not stop and the junction he says & no incidents) road rage incidents with a member of the public.
Next junction a fight between the Maintenance Worker and member of the public breaks out.
Worker carries on his day and reports the incident to his supervision the next morning.
He has a confirmed broken rib and bruised hand.
So question being?
1. Do I report as a major injury?
Open to anyone’s thoughts.

I would ask (as I always do) just what do you think that the HSE would gain from being told this?
Personally, I wouldn't report this at all. But that is not to say that it isn't reportable in someone else's opinion.
I just wouldn't based on the above. What would they do with this information?

Same here; not reportable. It's a common assault that didn't arise from the work.

I am on the same lines,
But im getting questionned that he was working as he was driving on work buisness? Make sense.
My counter argument is was not in connection with work as member of public. And if it was a client then this would be connected.
I do not mind reporting ever way.

This one is for the police - not RIDDOR
OK he is at work - but this is definitely not in connection with his work activity. (unless he is a policeman or traffic warden etc - in which case it is!)

Thats my understanding, not in connection with work activity.
Police have been informed.
Thank you all for you comments,
Never a dull day.
