The HSE have released a paper prior to the July CONIAC meeting discussing the new CDM package. It states the HSE received a draft SI in May this year. This also included a supporting impact assessment and draft consultative document which form the package on which HSE proposes to consult. Prior to consultation, approval must be gained from the HSE Board and Ministers. HSE must also seek an opinion on the validity of the impact assessment from the independent Regulatory Policy Committee. Subject to suitable approvals the HSE plan a 12 week consultation period in late Summer, with a view of the new Regulations coming into force October 2014. Details can be found here: http://www.hse.gov.uk/ab.../coniac-cdm-revision.pdf

Rich - thanks for sharing this - not always easy to find out when/where these are issued!

Bruce Unfortunately only a select group of consultees have ready access to these. Sometimes they are known to let things out of the bag. I have no doubt that one will be an IOSH member but keeping quiet about it. Bob

I read with interest the developments regarding the new CDM regulations. What I am hearing flies in the face of the EU directive which the HSE are claiming the new regulations will represent more closely. The co-ordinator appointment for the project preparation and execution phase is a clear requirement of the directive and any dilution will be open to a legal challenge which I would welcome. When performed correctly the CDMC role is a must for the success of any clients project.
