We have a small squad onboard to remove some old Chartex PFP from steelwork and beams. All CoSHH assessments and MSDS I have available for review are all concerned in the main with application in it's wet form and refer to the components of concern as vapours etc given off during curing time etc. All well and good. Now that the substance is a good few years old, dried out and solid it is being manually removed with chisel equipment. Nil vapour release, mainly direct contact and dust / particles being generated. The squad are using goggles and an FFT bumblebee type RPE mask, to remove the potential for eye injury and breathing in any dust generated. Areas wet down at time of removeal to reduce dust becomming airbourne. Coveralls / boots / gloves all in use. I am of the opinion that this is adequate control from a CoSHH perspective, e.g. the calibre of mask is already suitable for organic vapours / NORM, in fact it may be a bit over the top (close fitting dust mask may suffice along with other site standard PPE). I seem to be alone in this view. Opinions either way?

Is that Chartek removal? There's a pdf manual showing on a Google search but I can't open it here at work.
