Does anyone have any advice on registering as an IOSH Approved Trainer to deliver Managing and Working Safely, either on a Commercial basis or working Freelance for other approved training providers. I have considered the costs etc, I just need some good advice on the downside and upside of this new venture. Thanks.

IMHO supply exceeds demand. You might struggle against those who are already established.

Gerard, My recommendation would be to start by working as a freelance trainer with established companies. They get the hassle of selling/ arranging the courses and you simply deliver on an agreed day-rate basis. Speaking from personal experience (I work both as a consultant and as a "trainer for hire" for a number of companies) the downside is that the work isn't so profitable (you get paid the same regardless of the number of delegates), but the upside is the freedom from the problems of course coordination. If you'd like to chat further then please feel free to contact me via email on info@managementandsafety.co.uk
