Good Morning Folks, I've been asked by a local Hotelier who is also a friend if I could look over there policy and Risk assessments , which I have and it does require some work and the company requires a bit of direction. Would anyone like to share a good example of a similar Hotel set up, I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks

For small businesses the HSE provides a useful start: http://www.hse.gov.uk/si...health-safety/manage.htm They also provide some ample risk assessments that may assist: http://www.hse.gov.uk/risk/casestudies/index.htm

Glenn I was tasked with this a couple of years ago - and the criteria was set by the insurance company after a visit and audit. Check and see if this is the driving force behind the request It was difficult explaining to the proprietor (Polish) that he needed to comply with the No Smoking rukes in his bar, but to produce a Fire Risk assessment fafter the major fire source had been banned! Regards David

Thanks for the Reply, The main push of the request is in fact that hi s Father was the businesses General Manager/Owner , he passed away and now the son has picked up the reigns. The Management of H&S was not at the forefront of the business during his time, although there was some attempt to comply with the main requirements and by all accounts its a successful business. The new GM want to ensure he has a robust system in place, hence the initial thread. While I'm aware and understand the main requirements, I'm not involved in the Business in a working capacity ( Hotels & Bars ) . Oil and Gas is my back ground , it would be helpful to see a good example of a small to medium Hotel and Bar Safety Policy/Risk assessments etc Cheers Glenn

Hi Bode0309, There is a very useful toll on the Health and Safety Authority (Ireland) website called Be Smart. It is an interactive guide and produces risk assessments and policy statements for small business. http://www.besmart.ie/ Kevin

I've got a guide to risk management for restaurants created by our insurers. Whilst not exactly what you might be looking for I'm sure it's got some points of relevance for you. Give me your e-mail and I'll send it across. Mark.
