Hello all
I work in the offshore renewable sector, and am looking at engineering solutions to optimise the safety of our wind turbine installations (lifting operations). Currently our industry has a legacy problem of having personnel within the lifting zone, with the problems that come with this - we have had no incidents relating to this, but there potential is obviously there. What we are trying to achieve is to limit the need for human intervention & reduce the time taken to get to a safety stop point in the operation, before technicians can secure the modules together.
The GL marine lifting guidelines are a good starting point, but I am wondering if anybody has any experience with installation aids, such as guides/bumps/pin &latch solutions etc; maybe from the subsea sector, Oil&Gas sector?
Any pictures of examples or links to further information would be highly appreciated, as we are struggling to convince our engineering of the need to develop & modify our technology of this need.
Best Regards
Ben
