Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road.....help?

I am after a little assistance with regard to the marking of vehicles carrying dangerous goods by or on the road. I work for a highways contractor and typically we are required to carry small amounts (up to 20 litres) of petrol for use in small plant items used our works.
I want to ensure that we mark our vehicles correctly with appropriate warning signs for emergency services (in the event of an accident etc) but am not sure that we need to as there may be exemptions under ADR for small amounts.
Does anyone have any experience of this and could offer any advice? Grateful for any assistance.

I am researching Carriage of Dangerous Goods, ADR and the role of Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser.
Our company deals with resin flooring; materials and substances transported consist mainly of flammable liquids.
Any details provided to the original post in this thread will be interesting and may also be of use to me too.

There is no requirement to mark the vehicle at all.
If you look at ADR 1.1.3.1 (c) this would cover your activities.

Can you give me a little more detail- Packing group and how much would typically be on a vehicle.
Hope this helps

As mentioned there is no requirement for marking or placarding your vehicle as you appear to be under the small load thresholds, according to the respective transport category (2 in this case)
However, just so you are aware if you were to carry other Dangerous Goods on your vehicles, it may take you over the prescribed thresholds. These are worked out using a multiplier system dependant on one of the 5 transport categories.
