We have the risk assessment that is based largely on prevention and ensuring that we meet the requirements of the fire safety order (FSO) and preservation of life. We then have the fire strategy that will state what we have on site in the way of fire spread and prevention i.e. fire dampers, alarms, extinguishers, training, breahing apparatus, specific areas of concern or storage areas that may put the Fire Brigade at greater risk etc. and then we have a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) that is carried out with the local fire brigade and sets out who does what in a live fire situation.
We invite the fire brigade in each year for a familiarisation exercise.
It depends on size of establishment and who is at risk the level required, accomadation, hospitals etc. will have a higher level than an office, COMAH sites will have something else in place.
If we have an area that may put the FB at risk then this is also highlighted in the risk assessment as it prevents them trawling through pages of paper to get to it.

As our local F&R fire safety auditor said after reviewing our FRA following a routine Fire Safety Audit, if you have an assessment and it is fit for purpose, append it with an annual review undertaken by a competent individual (he meant me for our site!) detailing any changes to layout, operations, fire precautions etc. Then get a professional assessor to reassess about every three to four years.
So that's our plan now, they are happy I am happy as I dont have to rewrite the whole thing, and our insurers are happy as well (I checked).

Andy does that mean a full fra every three years even if you have reviewed and updated it every year?
Sounds OTT to me, I would suggest a review every year and that's all you need.
