Hi all

Does anyone have a risk assessment for a passenger lift in a carehome or similiar environment that they would be willing to share?

I have carried out one but the powers above are asking for more detail.

Thank you in advance.

Is this a 'standard' passenger lift, or a 'Stannah type' stairlift?

Mrs. Noodles can you please supply more information about the lift and what will be included in the RA, for example will it include releasing trapped passengers?

The lift is used for residents to access other floors. Staff to transport housekeeping equipment, hot food trollies, medication trollies and laundry linen.

This is the hazards I've identified so far

Slips, trips and falls
Entrapment
Electricity failure
Unsafe access to lift motor room.
Overloading of the lift
Spillage from food, drink from hot food trolley
Moving and handling from transporting of equipment, food trolleys, housekeeping chemicals and equipment,
Medication trollies and laundry linen.

Contractors will release the trapped passengers.
Have I missed anything of the hazards list please?

Mrs. Noodles
That list is quite comprehensive, a few questions:-
1, what do you mean by unsafe access to motor room?
2, how old is the lift?
3, does the lift have a key switch to full take control?
4, are the doors automatic, or manual?
