Do you need to be PASMA trained to work off a Mobile Tower? Tower has already been built by PASMA Trained operative and is Scaftag.

A correctly erected and tagged mobile scaffold tower is the same as any other scaffold and can be used by any operative but consideration should be given to the following:- Using and moving Make sure everyone involved is aware of, and follows, these simple rules: Using Never use a tower: in strong winds; as a support for ladders, trestles or other access equipment; with broken or missing parts; or with incompatible components. Moving When moving a tower you should always: reduce the height to a maximum of 4m; check that there are no power lines or other obstructions overhead; check that the ground is firm, level and free from potholes; and push or pull using manual effort from the base only. Never move a tower while people or materials are on the tower, or in windy conditions. If the tower needs altering or part dismantling to move then that should only be carried out by competent personnel (PASMA trained etc)

Hi Scott, no users do not need to be PASMA trained.

The correct answer is no, you do not have to be Pasma trained, unless it is specifically asked for by a client. However, the person/people should have received at least basic tower awareness and/or work at height training unless he or she is being supervised by a competent person. Some good points above but beware - NO ONE should attempt to move a tower unless they have been trained to do so safely. 4m is the absolute maximum laid down by the manufacturers but that requires all 4 of the stabilisers to be in a certain position. Try contacting a local training company for alloy tower awareness training if Pasma is not a client requirement.
