Can anyone help with these? I am looking to do a risk assessment and provide training for people using these (eg Emergency services / forensaics personnel) Can anyone point me in the direction of any guidance? Many thanks.

You can start with these regulations. http://www.hse.gov.uk/ra.../nonionising/optical.htm

When you get into those regulations it all gets a bit mathsey and fun :) I think somewhere there is a statement from the HSE that states if used in line with the manufactures guidance then (it should have already passed the conformity assessment) and so should be 'safe' for it's intended use. Have fun

Ok basically ignoring the maths bit, what the regulations say ( and it won’t surprise you) is that you need to carry out a risk assessment taking into account, the sort of UV light source( frequency intensity etc), what it is being used for and what is the likely sort of exposure( skin eyes etc).
