First, let me say that I've done the standard issue forum search on this topic.

I'm looking for rebar caps that protect against impalement. The normal mushroom type are for horizontal use only. There is a site in the netherlands that have a product which looks the part. Not sure if I'm allowed to mention the name but you can google and probably guess.

Either way I'm looking for a supplier of protective covers for rebar in Ireland, or delivers to/has a supplier in Ireland?

I have to say that I have always been happy with the mushroom cap and always trusted that it was the unquestionable answer to this problem. But apparently I'm... wrong (swoon!).

That's just what I'm looking for, thanks. I'll contact them and see if they have an Irish distributer.

Nothing wrong with mushroom caps, it's just that they don't provide vertical protection, only horizontal. In other words if you accidently kick it, you're protected. If you fall onto a vertical length of rebar that has a standard "mushroom" type cap on it, there's no guarantee it won't push through the cap AND you.

I have found protective covers that will do the job and come with test results and CE markings etc., which is what I want. They must be available in the ROI, somewhere.

I'm surprised that there's not more information coming back than this. I guess I was in the majority, assuming that the humble "mushroom" cap was the silver bullet for this particular problem... (it's not)
