Given that amongst the primitive methods of fire lighting that man has been using for years is the idea of focusing reflected sunlight and that this architect has already fallen foul of this same problem with an earlier design (Vdara Hotel, in Las Vegas).

How on earth did this get through the design process without someone saying 'Focusing all this sunlight surely has to be a bad idea' or even worse was the idea discussed but bypassed in favour of the architect's 'vision'?

I was there yesterday.

The affected row of buildings are now covered by a wall of scaffolding starting near the pavement edge. It is covered with hoarding and netting to block strong light.

All that apart, if mine was one of the buildings or businesses affected, I would have expected the builders to cover their shiny building, not mine. However, I expect as small businesses they might have gained from the attention, the free advertising, the additional business, and the insurance claims.

As an aside, it was raining and gloomy like autumn had rolled in fast.
