I have been notified this morning that following consultation, the government is to revoke the Site Waste Management Plans Regulations (SI 2008) /314 in England from 1 October 2013. I wonder how the Green Dreamers will react to this piece of veiled news release . Jon

I can't speak for the green brigade but I know there won't be any tears in project management. If there was ever a bureaucratic load of nonsense then SWMP took the prize.

I am lead to believe that its review the date has been pushed back so watch this space As for its use that is debatable as professional companies that I have worked for see no problem with it as its logical that we should not waste unnecessarily however the majority have different views One example I was involved in was the decorative front to a building and car park where the designer had specified this and that but the client after evaluating his SWMP took a different tack and transferred what was deemed to be waste from the waste stream to be used as the decorative areas and in the process saved himself lots of £££! - The designer was not happy because he could not then achieve his design award!
