Can anybody confirm if it is true or not that during the proposed fire service strike that the service will only attend real fires and not such things as people trapped in lifts and the like

Each fire authority have to have contingency plans and information can be found their websites but in general they will not attend lift entrapment unless a risk to life, automatic alarms received by the call centre unless accompanied by a 999 call etc. Currently it is only 4 hours on 25th Sept. Hope this helps

I am waiting to see their business continuity plans. Incidentally, the concern the FBU have regarding the raising of the retirement age likely to cause dismissal on capability reasons for fitness is justified. This is a politically motivated dispute.
