Hi
I am trying to secure an HSE/Safety role with an Oil & Gas company and wondered if any members could offer advice on how I could use my experience to maximise my chances of securing a position.

I am in a safety training role at the moment, delivering training to oil & gas personnel within the UK and Europe onshore and offshore in the North Sea and West Africa (mainly drilling rigs.)

I have my NEBOSH Gen Certificate and IOSH Managing Safely.

I also have many years of experience of managing risk in high risk environments.

I would be grateful for any advice anyone could offer?

Hi

Safety Coaches seem in demand at the moment, along with competence assessing. In this case I would advise you to get your comperence assessor award. There are various awarding bodies, we use City & Guilds as they allow us to work offshore, though not all do - something to look out for.

regards

Linda

Hi Linda

Many thanks for responding to my post. I should have mentioned in my post that I have my A1 Assessor award.

I'm going to have a look at what's available in the field you mention.

Thanks again for your advice.

Hi Graeme

As you already have your A1 assessor award I'm not sure how useful it would be to do another competency qualification. Perhaps other forum users in this field could advise you?

It may be worth asking some forum users in more senior positions within the Oil and Gas sector if they would be willing to review your CV and offer you some feedback

Good luck!
