Don’t know the details of French H&S law but I do know that the UK Confined Space regs are not derived from any specific EU directive but are actually something carried over from the old Factories Act (plus regs concerning docks and other similar set ups)

Formidable! Ce forum est certainement de plus en plus international dans sa couverture.

Y at-il quelque chose dans les règles du forum qui nécessite affectations être rédigées uniquement en anglais! :-)

To avoid anyone either being impressed by my apparent command of French or finding errors in my posting at #4 above, I should explain that my knowledge of French stems mostly from what little I can recall of "O" Level French at school. The content of post #4 comprises a translation from English which I quickly obtained using Google Translate. I discovered this facility fairly recently and wondered how soon I would be able to put it to use. Anyhow, it may help those wanting to translate the French webpage quoted by stevedm at #3. :-)

Best free link I have found...found that google has left me with some rather embarrassing statements...you would never guess what manual handling could be if you don't check the grammar......

My command of French is limited to my wife, red cross medical translation cards and can I have a ski pass please....

Legislation and practice on confined space entry is are virtually identical to those in the UK. I've done a fair bit of training on the subject and even been down the holes myself. Usually hot, sweaty and noisy.

Graham, votre traduction est suffisamment correcte.

Hi Walker

Merv's got it about right - Hi Merv, long time!

Check for any local variations [talk to Merv] especially re legislated max & min O2 levels. UK CS Regs do not have any legislated O2 max or min O2.

And if working in grain terminals/elevators/silos or food preparation [ie flour], don't forget DSEAR or the local equivalent.

Enjoy!!
