Hi all, have any of you out there come across any official guidance regarding wire wheels on bench / pedestal grinders and specifically if the tool rests can or even should / should not be removed. I know HSG17 for grinding wheels requires tools rests, fitted and adjusted etc, but nothing on wire wheels. I have done a general Internet search and all I came up with was some less than official information that they should be removed due to increased risk of entanglement. I’m not entirely convinced by the reasoning or the increased risk either way. If no guidance, I can just do my own assessment, but wanted to double check if there is any guidance one way or the other. So anyone know of anything I could review ? Thanks Chris

Dont know of any guidance as such Chris but in the engineering workshops I have been in I dont recall seeing a toolpost on a linisher with a wire wheel on - same with the polishing wheels; that does not mean its right though :-) Stu
