Dear All, I am looking for guidance documention on the suitable position for seat belts while worn when driving. A concern has been raised on a van which has no adjustable anchor and the seat belt is rubbing just short of the neck line on some individuals who have access to the van.

Scott, short of any advice, it's encouraging they're putting the seatbelt on, though it's not advisable for 10 year olds to be driving the van in the first place ;/

Hi Scott, you can get either extenders (these slot into the latch of the seat belt and have their own latch which is thus higher) or gadgets (there is not actually a word to describe these!) which clasp the diagonal and the lateral portions of the belt together. Both of these types of device change the angle of the belt across the body, and will therefore redirect the belt away from the neck. They do not affect the operation or integrity of the belt. They are popular with many smaller drivers (and passengers). The belt extender can also be useful where the bulk of the person or clothing can get in the way of locating the seat belt tongue into the latch.
