There is a delay because they were basing the guidance document on the weird and wonderful queries posted on this site but these have dried up since the turn of the year.

Dear All
I understand the Prime Minister is fully behind this example of making it simpler for employers to comply with their duties following the Red Tape Fallacy initiative.
So record over 3 day injuries; separately report over 7 day injuries; scrap faxing reports; change the definitions of 'major injuries'; strip away several occupationally related diseases; knock out some dangerous occurrences; lose about a third of direct reports to 'maintain or improve' health and safety standards; and guidance will suffice. Yet most business surveys I have read indicate that what organisations most appreciate is stability and as little regulatory change as possible.
Apparently this RIDDOR change is estimated to save business in Great Britain £600,000 per year for the next 9 years. Wow - that should really encourage British businesses to improve their International competitiveness!!
Anybody heard about the CDM ACoP, which was supposed to be due out on the 31st January?
Cheers.

Nigel - you omitted the new "non-definition" of an "enclosed space" which the HSE have classified in their guidance as a kind of, sort of, Confined Space [even though RIDDOR doesn't define it - ta dahh!].
Primarily written by bumbles to ensure that accident and ill-health continues to decrease - well, on paper anyway. By re-writing RIDDOR, this Govt has considerably reduced the official evidence of work related ill-health.

Thanks for correcting my oversight - my blood pressure was rising at the time!

Many thanks - I understand the changes are really going to help small construction companies in particular. With the delays I can only summise that the new ACoP is going to be a great read and small company managers will be rushing to comply as it will be so simple to understand.
Got some great pills from the doctor the other day!
Cheers.
