We really must stop reading and commenting on this nonsense. I personally believe that the reasoning behind "bags for life" is not a high-minded concern for the environment. Rather it is a concern by the major retailers that their brand name is seen littering our open spaces and thus conveys a negative image. Littering seems to be getting worse - to the extent that people are employed in Schools to pick up after the children. I'll stop now - I feel an attack of the (real) Victor Meldrews coming on.

I must say that I read this article through and it made a lot of sense to me. It's not really "elf & safety" bashing, but IMO quite rightly pointing out the ridiculous scaremongering that goes on in its name.

I think that even bothering to read the daily mail is a concern!
