Im being told that you dont need any service inspection on battery chargers and roller beds for the MHE.
Is this true as I would have expected under puwer or electricity at work regs that there would be some kind of inspection to be carried out

Lisar,

Roller beds will be maintained under local visual inspection and maintenance programs, eg clean any debris & oil rollers to ensure smooth and effortless transfer of battery, as for the chargers I don't believe there is any formal inspection, having said that we have weekly checks by or maintenance team & daily visual check by our operators for loose connections has it is not uncommon for the batteries to be disconnected by pulling the cables rather than separating the connectors !!.

Long long way from being an expert on this, but surely if you are moving batteries ( which are no doubt heavy ) then they need to be formally inspected from time to time, as they would be considered lifting eqpt?
The battery chargers are going to be subject to regular test as either PAT or fixed installation items - the output will be LV, but the input is no doubt mains..

Hi Tim,

I believe Lisa is referring to the roll on roll off type of battery equipment & as such are not considered lifting equipment, examples where these very common are reach trucks and powered pedestrian truck.
