The organisation I work for has recently installed a number of outdoor exercise units. The equipment is intended for use by 12 years and above. The equipment has been loctated in an area apart from other play equipment but it is adjacent to a primary school. Although the units are manufactured by a respected company, they do not bear any conformity marks. Some of the units open and close creating significant crush points. There seems to be a gap in requirements for safety standards for outdoor exercise equipment and this is causing me problems. If these units were installed as work equipment I would not hesitate in prohibiting their use as they do not conform with PUWER.
Has any one else had any experience with similar equipment?
