Morning all, Just after some guidance from members. The director for fire at this trust has now decided that I need to join a professional fire organisation, such as the Institute of Fire Safety Managers, or the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers. Have anyone got their views on this? anyone members of either? Thanks in Advance. Cheers HB

Personally, I would join the institute of fire engineers. I am not familiar with the other, but can say that the institute of fire engineers works very closely with many other recognised trade organisations such as BAFE.

I am a member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers. They are a professional body and have several excellent events per annum. However I can still do my job without being a member. So really its up to you . There's also www.nahfo.com you could consider - National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers SBH

I joined IFSM earlier this year. They are very supportive, and provide excellent technical days. Very good value for money. Very interested in ensuring members share knowledge & experience. No hesitation in recommending you explore membership

Many thanks for your replies . Much appreciated. I am already a member of NAHFO London branch (training officer) I think the IFSM looks the best route. Cheers HB
