Can I ask the forums opinion on the best way to identify staff with key responsibilities, such as fire warden, marshall etc. Do you use simple white boards, magnetic boards etc, if so what do you find effective? Thanks Tony

We issue them with different colour T shirts (green) and put posters up so that the faces are recognised as well as the names. HTH Stuart

Stuart, Thanks for the reply, that wouldnt work in our locations, uniforms need to remain the same. Was thinking of having a notice board at the electronic clock card, all staff clock in there, just looking tomsee how it would be managed.

Is it necessary to identify fire wardens to staff during business as usual times? OK, during a fire or fire alarm activation, the trusty hi viz jacket will do the job, but I am unsure of what benefit there is to having a list of names and/or photos on a noticeboard.

Ours are designated 'emergency responders' so cover spills, fire marshal and first aid duties; poster helps identify who they are especially for new starters etc.

Just thought Tony (oh for an edit function) I see you are in food and drink - when I was in the food industry we had different colour hairnets so that we could identify first aiders etc - don't know if this would be of any use. Stuart

For first aiders, we have posters with photos, locations and phone numbers on noticeboards, and first aid desk flags (you can buy these from safetyshop). For fire marshals, just a hi-vis that they put on when the alarm is activated.

Sorry, I didn't spot the crucial bit in the title: "shift workers".
