I have no doubt that the degree will be a better option if your circumstances will permit it. It is more widely recognised eg other countries and is perhaps more future proof than a diploma.

An increasing number of jobs are asking for a degree in health and safety, and if you look away from the H&S sector, many other jobs ask for a degree qualification as a base line.

The cost of degree now can often be comparable to the cost of a NEBOSH diploma (depending on providers).

That said at the end of the day your choice will be directed by your personal circumstances, availability of time, how you are paying (and the budget you have) and how quickly you might need the qualification etc. You will need to do what is right for you!

Either option involves a commitment of time and resource and both will be rewarding. But if we are starting a vote, :) then I would say degree

Hi, I would say the degree, although, I have to be honest here, I got my degree several years ago, and on subsequent job hunts, I had many uneducated employers turn me down as I did not have a NEBOSH qualification and they only recognised the NEBSOH banner as showing any qualification worth having.

Needless to say, industry are becoming more educated and looking further than NEBOSH these days.

I guess part of it comes down to your preferred learning syles too, which ever option you choose I wish you good luck.....

It depends on what your ambitions are.

And your learning style too - my degree was a lot of research etc etc with end of modules tests - much less on being able to recite chapter and verse and word your answers correctly in one big exam at the end. Incidentally at the time my degree was cheaper than studying for the Dip.

I would say NEBOSH Diploma.

Look in SHP and see how many adverts ask for a Degree, and how many ask for Dip.

Sorted. IMHO.

I think it depends on whether you already have a degree (in any subject). If you don't, then becoming a graduate will increase your credibility everywhere and so a degree is better option.

If you already have a degree, then the NEBOSH Diploma makes more sense as it doesn't take as long and is well recognised.

When i studied my Diploma it was Level 6 which i was informed was degree equivalent.

Strangely, one of my colleagues at the time was studying the degree and didn't believe me until he mentioned the subject module he was studying which i had already covered in my Diploma. I actually helped him out on his degree.

Yes there are 3 large exams at the end but there is also the assignment.

I studied my Diploma by E-learning as it fitted in better time wise and budget wise.

I suppose the choice is down to how the study fits and what you are wanting to do with it.
